The Agafay is a mineral desert at 700 m elevation, right next to the Atlas mountains. The temperature can swing a good 10 °C between morning and afternoon, and the seasons are pronounced. A few pointers so you enjoy the ride — nothing mandatory, come as you are.

What we lend you (you bring nothing)

  • Helmet (all sizes, with clean padding)
  • Goggles or visor against dust
  • Gloves (for quads — on a buggy the wheel + harness are enough)
  • Water bottle
  • K-way available on site if the weather calls for it

That’s the essentials. For the rest, show up in everyday clothes — we adapt on site.

Season by season

Summer (June → September)

Temperatures: 30–42 °C daytime, milder early in the morning.

What’s most comfortable: a light, breathable outfit, light trousers or thin jeans, closed shoes (sports trainers work fine), sunglasses and a bit of sunscreen before leaving. A light scarf is handy if you want to cover your nose from dust.

In summer, riding early morning or at sunset is the most pleasant — softer light and cooler temperatures. But if you prefer another slot, we adapt.

Shoulder season (March → May, October → November)

Temperatures: 18–28 °C, often clear sky, soft light.

A regular outfit + a light layer (sweater, sweatshirt or thin fleece) that you take off after the briefing. The most pleasant season: not hot, not cold, beautiful light, and the Atlas often still snow-capped in the background.

Winter (December → February)

Temperatures: 12–20 °C daytime, cooler at sunrise.

Winter is sharper than people expect, especially while riding: bring a warm layer + a windproof jacket on top. On a buggy at 60 km/h, the windproof makes all the difference. If you don’t have one, we lend K-ways on site.

In winter, the middle of the day is the most comfortable slot, when the sun warms up most.

Edge cases

  • With a 6–12 year-old passenger: an extra layer is helpful — a child who isn’t driving gets cold faster than an adult focused on the controls.
  • Make-up: dust sticks. You’ll leave with a fine ochre film on your face — it’s become a tour “tradition.”

Clean-up at the base

Water for rinsing face and hands, mirror, tissues. For a real shower, that’s at your hotel — plan 30 min of “freshening up” before dinner.
